UPCOMING EVENTS

SPRING SUMMIT | MAY 26, 6:30 PM

CREATION, REVELATION, AND SCIENCE

Are science and faith irreconcilable? Did the Church and the “Dark Ages” squash reason and progress? Join St. Mary’s and our guest speaker, the MIT graduate and Doctor of Sacred Theology Fr. Joseph R. Laracy, to discover the truth about the history of science and the Church, the emergence of empirical science in the middle ages, and how to better understand ourselves, our universe, and our God the Creator. In addition to serving as associate professor of systematic theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, Fr. Laracy also served as a teaching assistant for a course on the Physics of Nuclear Weapons, Warfare, and Arms Control. Father Laracy’s main interest is reconciling faith & reason and promoting the natural unity between theology and science. Please RSVP HERE.

SUMMER SUMMIT | JUNE 23, 6:30 PM

WHEN YOU WALK AMIDST FIRE

In the midst of the Babylonian Exile, with their Temple destroyed and their spirit crushed, the ancient Jews possess nothing but the psalms with which to pray to God. God hears the prayer of his people during their trial by water and fire and responds to them not simply with one of the most beautiful oracles of salvation the prophets have ever uttered, but one in which He weaves a tapestry from the very prayers of his people. In this talk, Fr. Peter A. Heasley, S.Th.D. will open up for us the many allusions hidden in Isaiah 43:1-7, and give us an image of who this saving God is and who we are before Him, even today. RSVP HERE.
