OUR PASTOR

The Reverend Fr. Arokia Dass David
Pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Park City & St. Lawrence Mission, Heber City

Father Arokia Dass David was born in Paramakudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his undergraduate studies at Loyola College in Chennai, earning a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He then entered Sacred Heart Seminary, where he received a Diploma in Philosophy and later completed a Bachelor of Theology. He also earned a Master of Christian Studies from the University of Madras.

He was ordained to the priesthood on April 26, 2009, by the Most Rev. Anthonisamy Neethinathan, Bishop of Chingleput, India.

Fr. Dass’ first priestly assignment was as Vice Rector of St. Joseph Minor Seminary in India, where he also taught Sacred Scripture. He later served as associate pastor and secretary to the bishop, followed by another year as vice rector at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rainy Hill.

In 2013, Fr. David came to Utah and began his ministry in the Diocese of Salt Lake City as parochial vicar at Saint Patrick Parish in Salt Lake City. He continued his pastoral service with two-year assignments at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in Midvale and Saints Peter and Paul Parish in West Valley City. After a yearlong assignment at Saint George Parish, he was appointed administrator of Saint Helen Parish in Roosevelt and its mission churches.

In 2019, he became administrator of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon, along with their associated missions. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Salt Lake City on February 11, 2022, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, and was named pastor of both parishes.

On August 1, 2025, Fr. David became the pastor of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish in Park City and Saint Lawrence Mission in Heber City.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Fr. David has served as Dean of the Eastern Deanery and continues to serve as chaplain for the diocesan Charismatic Renewal.
